Sustainability at Bee Cosmetics

Sustainability at Bee Cosmetics

Guided by our passion for beekeeping and the natural world, we are dedicated to protecting and supporting the environment in all that we do. Central to our efforts are two key pillars of sustainability: biodiversity and climate.

In recognition of our commitment, we were honoured to receive a green grant from Horsham Council, supporting our sustainable initiatives.

Climate

Plastic-Free Packaging

We are proud to say that over 94% of our product packaging is plastic-free. By choosing glass, paper, and aluminium, we reduce harmful plastic pollution and its devastating impact on the planet. Our Return, Refill, Reuse scheme saves 240g of CO2 for every glass jar you return – the equivalent of four minutes of car travel.

Harnessing Local Resources

From our own hives, we source beeswax, honey, and propolis to create our skincare range. When our supply runs low, we turn to local Sussex beekeepers who share our commitment to regenerative beekeeping practices.

Small-Batch Production

By making our products in small batches here in Sussex, we maintain better quality control, ensure fresh product turnover, and minimise potential product wastage—all while operating sustainably, powered by a renewable energy tariff and water-saving technologies.

Biodiversity

Organic Ingredients

We use natural, traceable, and certified organic ingredients in our award-winning skincare range. As passionate beekeepers, we reject pesticides in favour of botanical oils and butters from organic farms, ensuring a safe and sustainable future for bees.

Protecting Bee Populations

Beekeeping is at the heart of everything we do, so we work hard to help protect the UK’s precious bee populations. As certified beekeepers, we care for several of our own hives and we’re passionate about sharing our knowledge on the art of beekeeping. If you have any questions about beekeeping, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Restoring Wildflower Meadows

Wildflower meadows are vital for bees and countless other species, yet 97% have been lost since the 1930s. That’s why we’ve distributed over one million wildflower seeds to help restore these vital ecosystems.

Our Stance on Animal Testing

Our Stance on Animal Testing

Tests on animals for cosmetic products – and their ingredients – have been banned in the UK since 1998 and in the EU since 2009. But large corporations have found a loophole. By testing in countries that allow it, like China and the US, they can still sell their products in Europe.

At Bee Cosmetics, we stand firmly against animal testing. None of our products – or ingredients – have been, or ever will be, tested on animals. Instead, our skincare is tested on us, and goes through rigorous microbiology testing.
